2. Check that the upper part is clear of gasket residues and foreign materials. Check the deformation of the upper surface of the cylinder block using a thin ruler and a measuring gauge (Figure 3.58).

Nominal value: 0.05 mm. Allowable value: 0.1 mm.
3. Using a bore gauge, measure the inside diameter and cylindricity of each cylinder (Figure 3.59). If at least one cylinder is excessively worn, all cylinders are bored to the same repair size and the pistons and piston rings are replaced accordingly.
