- 1. Stop the car in a safe place.
- 2. Without stopping the engine, raise the hood to provide ventilation of the engine compartment.
Attention:
- Be aware that boiling coolant may splash into the engine compartment and the hood pillar may become very hot. Opening the hood abruptly may cause burns.
- Beware of hot steam coming out from under the expansion tank cap.
- Do not attempt to open the radiator cap until the engine has cooled down.

Note: Make sure the cooling fan is spinning. If the fan does not rotate, turn off the engine immediately and then check the fan.
3. After the coolant has cooled to normal temperature, turn off the engine.
4. Check the fluid level in the expansion tank (A).
Caution: If there is no coolant in the expansion tank, make sure the engine has cooled down completely before unscrewing the radiator cap (B). Otherwise, there is a risk of being burned by hot steam or boiling coolant flowing out of the radiator neck.
5. If necessary, add coolant to the radiator and (or) expansion tank.
Caution: If you quickly add cold coolant to a hot engine, the cylinder head and (or) cylinder block may crack. Coolant should be added gradually while the engine is running.
6. Check the condition of the cooling system hoses, as well as the tension and condition of the coolant pump drive belt. If any faults are detected in the cooling system or drive belt, it is recommended to immediately correct the faults or replace the faulty parts.
