Removal



To remove the power steering pump, perform the following operations in sequence.

1. Drain the fluid from the power steering hydraulic system.

2. Remove drive belt 5 (Fig. 13.19).

3. Remove the inlet hose 7.

4. Disconnect connector 6 of the pressure sensor switch.

5. Loosen the bypass bolt 4.

6. Remove sealing ring 3.

7. Disconnect the banjo connection 2.

8. Remove the power steering pump 8.

Examination



1. Check the drive belt for cracks.

2. Make sure that there is no imbalance when rotating the pulley assembly.

Installation



Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.

1. Fill the power steering hydraulic system with fluid.



2. Adjust the tension of the power steering pump drive belt.

3. Bleed the power steering hydraulic system.

4. Check the operating pressure of the power steering pump.

Cars produced since 1997 with diesel engines



Removal



To remove the power steering pump, perform the following operations in sequence.

1. Drain the fluid from the power steering hydraulic system.

2. Remove the lower timing belt cover.

3. Remove drive belt 1 (Fig. 13.20).

4. Remove pulley 2 of the pump.

5. Disconnect connection 9 of the supply hose.

6. Disconnect connection 8 of the discharge (injection) hose.

7. Remove the O-ring 7.

Examination



1. Check the drive belt for cracks.

2. Check the condition of the pulley for uneven (beating) rotation.



Installation



Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.

1. Fill the power steering hydraulic system with fluid.

2. Adjust the tension of the power steering pump drive belt.

3. Bleed the power steering hydraulic system.

4. Check the operating pressure of the power steering pump.

5. Install the lower timing belt cover.

Removal



To remove the power steering pump, perform the following operations in sequence.

1. Drain the fluid from the power steering hydraulic system.

2. Remove drive belt 1 (Fig. 13.21).

3. Remove the supply hose 9 (low pressure).

4. Disconnect connector 5 of the pressure sensor switch.

5. Unscrew nut 4 securing the banjo connection.

6. Remove washer 3.

7. Disconnect the banjo connection 2.



8. Remove bracket 7 of the pressure sensor switch.

9. Remove power steering pump 8.

Examination



1. Check the condition of the pump drive belt for damage.

2. Check the condition of the drive pulley for runout.

Installation



Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.

1. Fill the power steering hydraulic system with fluid.

2. Adjust the tension of the power steering pump drive belt.

3. Bleed the power steering hydraulic system.

4. Check the operating pressure of the power steering pump.

Cars produced since 2001 with diesel engines



Removal



To remove the power steering pump, perform the following operations in sequence.

1. Drain the fluid from the power steering hydraulic system.

2. Remove drive belt 1 (Fig. 13.22).

3. Remove pulley 2 of the pump.

4. Disconnect the connection of the inlet (supply) hose 3.

5. Disconnect the connection of the discharge (injection) hose 6.



6. Remove the O-ring 7.

7. Remove the pump.

Installation



Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.

1. Fill the power steering hydraulic system with fluid.

2. Adjust the tension of the power steering pump drive belt.

3. Bleed the power steering hydraulic system.

Examination



1. Check the drive belt tension.

2. Check the condition of the pulley for uneven (beating) rotation.
