Typical elements of the exhaust system of gasoline models with a catalyst
1 - front pipe; 2 - rubberized support; 3 - catalyst; 4 - pre-muffler (not her models); 3 - end silencer.
Typical elements of the exhaust system of diesel models
1 - front pipe; 2 - rubberized support; 3 - middle pipe; 4 - end silencer.
Service life of the exhaust tract
The rate of corrosion from exhaust gases decreases as the temperature of the exhaust gases decreases. From this point of view, short distance trips with stops and engine cooling are less harmful than long trips with a warm engine and constantly hot exhaust gases. However, when cooled, condensate forms in the mufflers, which, mixing with combustion products, forms aggressive acids that corrode the metal of the exhaust tract from the inside.
Regardless of the driving mode, moisture entering from the outside causes rusting gifts of stones or bumps over bumps also shorten the life of the exhaust tract, and with them the vibration caused by defective suspension rubbers or poor engine suspension.
