32. Noise in neutral gear with the engine running



1. Input shaft bearing wear.

2. Damage to the main gear bearing.

3. Wear of intermediate shaft bearings.

4. Wear or damage to the intermediate shaft axial play adjustment gaskets.

33. Noise in all gears

1. One of the above reasons and/or:

2. Not enough oil (the verification procedure is specified in Chapter 1).

34. Noise when one of the gears is in operation



1. Damage or wear of the gear teeth of the corresponding transmission.

2. Damage or wear of the synchronizers of the corresponding gear.

35. Spontaneous disengagement of any gear



1. Loosening of the gearbox mount to the clutch housing (see Chapter 7).

2. The gear shift rods touch the engine mounts or clutch lever (see Chapter 7).

3. Jamming of gear shift rods (see Chapter 7).

4. Dirt between the gearbox housing and the engine or improper alignment of the gearbox (see Chapter 7).

5. Worn or incorrectly adjusted lever mechanism (see Chapter 7).

36. Gears are difficult to shift



1. The clutch does not disengage completely (clutch adjustment is described in Chapter 1).

2. The gear shift mechanism is loose, damaged or incorrectly adjusted. Check and replace parts if necessary (see Chapter 7).

37. Oil leak



1. Excess oil in the gearbox, (the procedure for checking the oil level is described in Chapter 1). Drain off excess oil.

2. It is necessary to replace the drive shaft or speedometer seal (see Chapter 7).
