53. The car pulls to the side



1. Uneven tire pressure (see Chapter 1).

2. Tire damage (see Chapter 1).

3. Increased wear of the suspension or steering components (see Chapter 10).

4. Incorrect wheel alignment.

5. Front brakes sticking. Check the brakes as described in Chapter 9.

54. Shimmy, rocking or vibrating



1. Tires or wheels are out of round or out of balance. Have them balanced at a workshop.

2. Increased play, wear or improper adjustment of the rear wheel bearings (see Chapter 1).

3. Wear or damage to shock absorbers and/or suspension components (see Chapter 10).

55. Excessive lean when turning and/or braking



1. Shock absorber malfunction. Replace as a whole (see Chapter 10).

2. Damage or weakening of springs and/or other suspension components. Check as described in Chapter 10.

58. Hard steering wheel



1. Insufficient amount of working fluid in the power steering reservoir (see Chapter 1).

2. Incorrect tire pressure (see Chapter 1).

3. Incorrect adjustment of the front wheel alignment angles.

57. Increased steering wheel play



1. Increased wear of suspension and steering components (see Chapter 10).



2. Damage to the steering mechanism (see Chapter 10).

58. Insufficient power steering



1. Damage or improper adjustment of the power steering pump drive belt (see Chapter 1).

2. Low working fluid level (see Chapter 1).

3. Pinched hoses or pipes. Inspect and replace damaged parts if necessary.

4. Air in the power steering system. Bleed the system (see Chapter 10).

59. Increased tire wear (over the entire surface)



1. Incorrect tire pressure (see Chapter 1).

2. Unbalanced tires. Have them balanced at a workshop.

3. Damage to wheel disks. Inspect and replace if necessary.

4. Increased wear of suspension or steering components (see Chapter 10).

60. Increased wear of tires on the outer edge



1. Incorrect tire pressure (see Chapter 1).

2. Increased speed on turns.

3. Incorrect adjustment of the front wheel alignment angles (increased toe-in). Professional adjustment is required.

4. The suspension arm is bent or twisted (see Chapter 10).

61. Increased wear of tires on the inner edge



1. Incorrect tire pressure (see Chapter 1).

2. Incorrect adjustment of the front wheel alignment angles. Professional adjustment is required.

3. Loose or damaged steering components (see Chapter 10).

62. The rolling surface of the tire is worn in one place



1. Unbalanced tires.

2. Damage or warping of discs. Check and replace if necessary.

3. Tire failure (see Chapter 1).
