Adjustment of disc brakes is automatic and built into the assembly design. There are three different types of disc brakes:
- With fixed caliper;
- With sliding caliper;
- With floating bracket.
Fixed calipers are a two-cylinder design in which two separate pistons press friction pads against both sides of the brake disc. In this case, the caliper body itself is installed rigidly and completely motionless.
Mechanisms with a sliding caliper and a floating caliper practically do not differ from each other in terms of the principle of operation - in both designs, the inner pad is pressed against the brake disc by hydraulic force, while the actual caliper body / floating caliper, in this case not rigidly fixed, is slightly shifted in the opposite direction. direction, with its opposite end pressing the second block to the outer side of the disk. Various methods of fastening this kind of calipers can be used - some are equipped with an axle located on the top or bottom of the assembly, on others mounting bolts are used as sliding guides.
