Note: The operations for installing the oil pan and oil filter on a vehicle with a 6V31, 4M4 or 6G7 engine are similar. Below is a description of the procedure using the 6G7 engine as an example.
1. Clean the surfaces of the oil pan and oil filter from traces of old grease.
2. Apply silicone-based lubricant to the contact surface of the oil pan.
Recommended lubricant: Mitsubishi genuine part MD970389 or equivalent.
3. Install the engine sump into its mounting location.
4. Tighten the pan mounting bolts. Tightening torque: 36±5 Nm.
5. Install the sealing ring (10).
Note: Apply soap-based lubricant to the O-ring before installing it.
6. Install the engine oil dipstick guide (9).
7. Install the sealing ring (8).
Note: Apply soap-based lubricant to the O-ring before installing it.
8. Install the automatic transmission oil level dipstick guide (7).
9. Install the cover (6).
10. Install the oil pan drain plug gasket (5).
11. Install the oil pan drain plug (4).
12. Install the front cross member assembly (3).
13. Install the left drive shaft connection (2).
14. Install the right drive shaft connection (1).
15. Install the starter assembly.
16. Fill the engine with oil and check its level.
Note: Wait approximately one hour after installing the oil pan before adding engine oil to the engine.
17. Install the lower support plate and engine crankcase guard.
Model with 4M4 engine
