High pressure fuel pump components
The start of fuel supply can be checked both on the removed and installed engine. A pointer indicator is required for checking. The conditions for checking are as follows:
- The tension of the toothed belt must comply with the norm;
- The engine control must be properly adjusted;
- The engine must be at operating temperature and in fast idle mode.
Examination
Turn off the ignition.
Set the piston of the 1st cylinder to the TDC position.

Slightly loosen the union nuts of the injection line on the pump using a spanner while holding the pressure valve.
Unscrew the plug bolt (inspection plug) on the injection pump cover.
Insert the adapter and small pointer indicator (measuring range from 0 to 3.0 mm) in place of the control plug.
Rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise approximately 30° before TDC, checking that the adapter is inserted correctly. Set the dial indicator to "0".

Rotate the crankshaft slightly in both directions, checking whether the needle of the dial indicator moves. Then set the crankshaft precisely to the position 30° before TDC.
Turn the crankshaft clockwise to the 7° after TDC position. The dial indicator should show the required value of 0.97-1.03 mm.

Adjustment
If the obtained value does not correspond to the required one, it is necessary to slightly loosen the fastening of the 2 fuel injection pump nuts.
Until a value of 1 mm is obtained, turn the injection pump to the right or left and temporarily tighten the injection pump nuts.

Repeat the feed start check and adjust the adjustment if necessary.
Unscrew the adapter with the pointer indicator and tighten the control plug with a new gasket with a force of 15 Nm. Tighten the bolt to 20 Nm.
