Removing
- Disconnect the wires from the battery terminals.
- Remove the hood.
- Remove the lower engine mudguard.
- Drain the coolant from the engine cooling system.
- Remove the air filter.
- Remove the intercooler and intercooler hose.
- Remove the exhaust pipe.
- Remove the implement drive belt.
- Disconnect the connectors from the lower camshaft sensor, fuel pressure sensor, high pressure fuel pump, fuel temperature sensor, fuel injectors, booster plugs, coolant temperature sensor, EGR solenoid valve, A/C compressor, alternator and oil pressure sensor (pic. 4.33).
Pic. 4.33. Places for connecting connectors and hoses to the engine: 1 - camshaft position sensor connector; 2 - fuel pressure sensor connector; 3 - high pressure fuel pump connector; 4- fuel temperature sensor connector; 5 - fuel injector connector; 6 - glow plug connector; 7 - connector of the coolant temperature sensor; 8 - connector for the exhaust gas recirculation solenoid valve; 9 - air conditioner compressor connector; 10 - generator connector; 11 - oil pressure sensor connector; 12 - vacuum hose; 13 - vacuum hose of the vacuum brake booster; 14 - hose of the engine cooling system; 15 - heater hoses; 16-fuel return hose; 17 - fuel supply hose
- Loosen the clamp and disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose.
- Disconnect vacuum hoses.
- Loosen the clamp and disconnect the engine cooling system hose.
- Loosen clamps and disconnect (heater hoses)
- Disconnect the fuel supply and return hoses. To prevent dirt and foreign matter from entering the fuel system, plug all open fuel system connections with plugs.
- Loosen the bolts and remove the power steering pump along with the attached hose and bracket.
Note. Use cord or soft wire to secure the removed power steering pump to the engine compartment so that it does not interfere with engine removal.
- Disconnect a socket, turn out bolts and remove the conditioner compressor from an arm together with the connected hoses.
Note. Secure the removed compressor in the engine compartment with a cord or soft wire so that it does not interfere with the removal of the engine.
- Remove the gearbox.
- Place a hydraulic jack under the engine.
- Remove the special tool used to remove the transmission from the engine.
- Fasten the motor to the yoke and hang it from a hoist or similar device (pic. 4.35).
Pic. 4.35. Using a traverse to lift the engine from the engine compartment
- Insert a piece of wood between the jack foot and the engine oil pan and lift the engine slightly to relieve the weight of the engine support, then remove the engine support bracket.
- Check that all wires are disconnected from the engine (electrical connectors), hoses, etc., and then slowly lift the engine up from the engine compartment.
Installation
- Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.
- When installing the engine, make sure that the wires, hoses and wire connectors are not pinched.
- Place a hydraulic jack under the engine (by inserting a wooden block between the supporting heel of the jacks of the engine oil pan) and install the engine support bracket while adjusting the engine position with a jack.
- While supporting the engine with a jack, disconnect the hoist.
- Install the gearbox.
- Install the air conditioning compressor.
- Install the power steering pump with attached hose and bracket.
- Remove the plugs and connect the fuel supply and return hoses.
- Connect heater hoses and secure with clamps.
- Connect the vacuum hose of the vacuum brake booster.
- Connect vacuum hoses.
- Connect the engine cooling system hose.
- Connect all previously disconnected electrical connectors.
- Install the exhaust pipe.
- Install the implement drive belt.
- Install the intercooler and intercooler hose.
- Install the air filter.
- Pour coolant into the cooling system.
- Install the lower engine mudguard.
- Install the hood.
- With the engine installed in the vehicle's engine compartment, check the engine oil and coolant levels. Check that all previously removed wires and hoses are installed in their places.
- Remove air from the fuel system.
- Connect the wire to the negative battery terminal.
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
