Pic. 16.9. Checking the pressure generated by the power steering pump
2. Bleed the power steering hydraulic drive, then start the engine and turn the steering wheel several times so that the fluid temperature rises to 50-60°C.
3. Increase the engine speed to 1000 min-1.
4. Close the special tool valve and measure the pressure.
Fluid pressure generated by the power steering pump: 9.8 MPa
Warning. Do not keep the special tool valve closed for more than 10 seconds.
5. If the maximum pressure does not match the nominal pressure, replace the pump.
6. Check the pressure in the hydraulic system without load with the cut-off valve fully open.
Pressure rating: 0.3-0.8 MPa
7. If the measured pressure value does not correspond to the nominal value, the steering gear or hydraulic system hoses may be damaged.
8. Fully open shut-off valve.
9. Turn a steering wheel against the stop to the left or to the right and measure size of pressure of holding a steering transfer.
Pressure rating: 9.8 MPa
10. If the measured pressure does not correspond to the nominal, replace the steering gear and re-measure the pressure.
11. Remove the special tools and connect the pressure hose to the pump by tightening the hose union nut to the required torque.
Tightening torque: 17 Nm
12. Remove air from a hydraulic drive of the amplifier of a steering.
